Wigan Warriors have appointed Newcastle Falcons commercial director Mick Hogan as their new chief executive. The 37-year-old from Leigh spent seven years as rugby league's North East development officer and 12 months as Gateshead's marketing manager. "There's very few clubs I'd move to but rugby league's my sport. This was too good a chance to turn down," he said. The Warriors have moved Joe Lydon from his previous role as chief executive to become their new performance director. Hogan added: "I would like to thank all the fans, sponsors, directors and staff of Newcastle Falcons, as well as club chairman Dave Thompson for the support I have received during my time at Kingston Park. "I will always keep an eye on the Falcons' scores and I wish them well for the future." Warriors chairman Ian Lenagan told the club website: "Winning trophies and making a profit are the two most important targets for Wigan in the near future. "Joe Lydon and Mick Hogan in their new roles are exceptionally well equipped to help us achieve this." Lydon, a former Wigan and Great Britain centre, will take complete responsibility for the recruitment, development and performance of all Wigan players and coaches from scholarship to first team level. "My role as performance director affords me the opportunity to utilise the experiences I have gained in professional rugby over the past 26 years and to provide direction, support and management to the athletes, coaches, staff and various teams within the core area of the club's business," he said.
