Berbatov started Spurs' opening game of the season on the bench
Tottenham's Dimitar Berbatov has dropped his clearest hint yet that he sees his future away from the club.
Manchester United have already had a 20.5m bid rejected for Berbatov, 27, and Spurs remain reluctant sellers.
"I'm now in Tottenham but no-one can disagree with me wanting to follow my dream," said the Bulgarian striker.
It is believed he handed in a transfer request last week and he was left on the bench for Spurs' first game of the season on Saturday at Middlesbrough.
Berbatov's agent Emil Dantchev was even more direct in his comments on the player's future.
"We have two more weeks until the end of the transfer window and I think this will be the most important week," he said.
"I read Alex Ferguson's statement that he wants another striker and I hope that this striker is Dimitar Berbatov."
Tottenham paid Bayer Leverkusen 10.9m for Berbatov two years ago and last season he scored 23 goals in 52 appearances.
With Robbie Keane having already left Tottenham for Liverpool this summer, Spurs will be unwilling to sell another high-profile striker.
But they are already looking at other forwards in case he does leave, although they appear to have cooled their interest in Zenit St Petersburg's Andrei Arshavin.
Zenit claim to have lowered their asking price for the Russian striker to below 20m and need to sell before they can think about buying anyone themselves.
Berbatov is away on international duty for Bulgaria's match with Bosnia-Herzegovina on Wednesday but, despite being team captain, did not face the cameras.
