Poching played for both New Zealand and Samoa at international level |
New Warrington assistant coach Willie Poching says he could not turn down the opportunity to work with head coach Tony Smith again. Poching, 37, joined the Wolves after leaving Leeds in the close season. "When the opportunity came to work with him again it was something I had to jump at straight away," Poching told BBC Radio Merseyside. "I had three good years under Tony as a player and he was the one to set me on my way in my coaching career." He added: "It was really easy to accept the job and it was something I was never going to turn down." Poching has swapped roles with James Lowes, as the former Warrington assistant coach now works as second in command at Leeds. The Samoa national coach says the job swap was not planned but he is pleased it has happened. "It was a surprise and I've been looking for a job for a while and this wasn't something I was expecting," Poching said. "It is merely coincidental that James Lowes went to Leeds and I went to his desk at Warrington. "I've got to see if some of my ideas will work with these people at Warrington and help them become better players. It can help me become a better coach and it's something I'm really looking forward to."
