Murphy is the sixth Wildcats player to commit his future to the club in recent weeks |
Wakefield winger Aaron Murphy has signed a new two-year contract with the Super League side. The 20-year-old, who has scored five tries in 13 games since joining from Leeds, is the second player to agree a new deal in as many days. Wildcats coach John Kear said: "Aaron is another player who has been unfortunate with injuries during his time at the club." Winger Damien Blanch signed a new two-year contract at Belle Vue on Tuesday. Kear added: "He [Murphy] is still only 20 but he has been around our first team squad for a while now and I think he will continue to get better and better with the more exposure he gets to Super League. "Whenever he has been called upon he has always given strong performances." | We've got a good mix for a successful season |
On signing his deal, Murphy said: "Wakefield gave me my chance and there's young players coming through like Dale Ferguson and Sean Gleeson which is encouraging to see. "The wingers at the club have all been frustrated with injuries this year but we're all going to be fresh and ready to go for next season so there will be competition for places which will keep everyone on their toes. "We've got some experienced heads coming in and there's the young lads that have come through the club's academy so we've got a good mix for a successful season."
