St Helens youngster Jamie Foster enjoying first team
Foster made his debut against Toulouse in the Challenge Cup
St Helens centre Jamie Foster says he is relishing life in Super League after scoring 16 goals in his last two games.
Despite his impressive start in the side, the 19-year-old understands he has a lot to learn in the game.
"I've got my chances because of Francis Meli being injured and I understand I'm not first choice at the moment," Foster told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"So it's just good to be around them everyday in training and learning from the like of Matt Gidley."
He added: "I'm usually a centre, so I'm working with him every day and brings out the best in you."
Foster has also praised coach Mick Potter for taking a chance on him and the youngster believes it is his job to impress his coach.
"When he puts you in, he doesn't put you in to make up the numbers, he expects a good performance from you," Foster continued.
"He doesn't care how old you are or if you've had the same amount of appearances as Keiron Cunningham or like me trying to get in there for my first game.
"He expects a lot and it's our job to perform for him."
Foster scored eight goals on his debut against Toulouse in the Challenge Cup and the same again on his Super League bow against Leeds.
