Saints hit out at league schedule
Daniel Anderson
Anderson was forced to cancel training because of tiredness
St Helens coach Daniel Anderson has hit out at rugby league administrators for "flogging" Super League players.

Anderson revealed the packed fixture list - Saints have played three games in eight days - had caused him to cancel training.

"You're just flogging the players at the moment," said the former New Zealand national coach.

"Any time you have got to play midweek or three games in seven, eight or nine days, makes it very tough to recover."

Anderson said their recent schedule had caused his players to be "listless and without quality" and resulted in him halting training for the day.

And Saints and the rest of the Super League sides face a similarly punishing schedule later in the year.

Anderson faces as many as 12 of his players being involved in Great Britain's midweek Test against New Zealand on 27 June.

"I hope the international game flourishes but I just hope that in 2007 they allow for scheduling and allow six or seven days between games if possible," he said.
