Anderson's St Helens side are unbeaten at the top of Super League |
Salford coach Karl Harrison and St Helens boss Daniel Anderson have joined forces to hit out at Super League's gruelling Easter schedule. With clubs set to play three times in a week, both men are unhappy with the workload being put on the players.
"I feel really sorry for the players at this time of year," said Harrison. "I find it quite pathetic to be truthful."
Kiwi Anderson agreed, adding: "It's a daunting prospect and, as a coach, I find it unbelievably tough."
Harrison, who has led his side to third in the table with seven wins from the opening nine rounds, saw his side defeat Warrington on Friday.
But now he must lead the Reds against Leeds on Monday before Friday's game against unbeaten St Helens.
"It's been the warmest weekend of the year and we've got three games - Friday, Monday, Friday," Harrison added.
"But everybody is in the same boat. We play Leeds on Monday. They've had the advantage of 12 hours' extra rest than we have but they had a tough encounter against Bradford."
St Helens defeated Wigan on Friday and have travelled to France for Monday's game with Catalans. Then they face a trip to Salford.
Anderson, who is navigating his way through his first Easter Super League programme, believes that is too much to ask.
"Between the Catalans trip and the Salford game we have one 45-minute training session and that's about it," he said.
"This a contact sport and quite a brutal, tough competition we play in."
