Salford City Reds sign Giants forward Stephen Wild

Wild has scored one try in 13 Super League appearances this season

Salford have made their fourth signing ahead of next season by bringing in Huddersfield back row Stephen Wild.

The 29-year-old former Great Britain international joins Shaun McRae's side on a three-year contract.

The Super League club had already agreed deals for Vinnie Anderson (Warrington), Luke Patten (Canterbury) and Chris Nero (Bradford).

The Reds have also kept hold of forward Lee Jewitt after the 23-year-old signed a three-year contract.

Wild, who joined Huddersfield from Wigan in 2006, appeared in two Challenge Cup finals for the Giants.

"With me going to Salford, it is quite similar to when I came to Huddersfield," said Wild.

"They are an ambitious club, especially when you look at the players they have signed, and I am looking to be a part of that.

"The news that they're getting a new stadium is a bonus as well."

Salford director of football Steve Sims said: "Stephen Wild is another great signing for this club next year.

"He has tremendous mobility and has a very strong all-round game that will suit what we are trying to achieve here in 2011 and beyond.

Former Wigan academy player, Jewitt has been restricted to just 12 appearances this season because of a knee injury.

"I really like it here so it was a pretty easy decision to make," he said.

"Over the next three seasons I'd like to progress my career and aim ultimately to earn an England cap, but I have to take things step by step and cement a regular first-team start at Salford and take it all from there."
