Salford City Reds have bolstered their squad ahead of the 2009 season by signing Rob Parker from Warrington and Dean McGillivray from St Helens. Prop Parker, 27, who has previously played for Bradford Bulls, has signed a one-year deal. Winger McGillivray, 20, has signed a two-year contract after limited first-team opportunities at St Helens. Both players will join the Reds for pre-season training in mid November as they prepare for the Super League. | Dean is a highly-regarded member of the Saints team and he is exactly the kind of player we are looking for |
Coach Shaun McRae said: "Rob is a very versatile player whether playing up front, at back row or loose forward. "He has great leg speed at the line and technically very proficient at defence with lots of experience from his previous two clubs, to bring to the Reds." The City Reds have already signed Mark Henry and Ray Cashmere from North Queensland Cowboys, along with Luke Swain from Gold Coast Titans and Jeremy Smith from South Sydney Rabbitohs. McRae added: "Dean is a young player who has been in the Saints system for five years but really wants the opportunity to play first-team rugby. "He is a highly-regarded member of the Saints team and he is exactly the kind of player we are looking for."
