Eastwood played for Canterbury Bulldogs last season on loan
Leeds Rhinos' new signing Greg Eastwood is confident he will be fit for the start of the new Super League season.
The New Zealand World Cup winner, who arrived at Headingley on Sunday, is recovering from a broken hand.
"The cast came off last week and if I get the green light I'll probably be certain to be playing in round one," Eastwood told BBC Radio Leeds.
"That's all I'm aiming for. I came over here to play football and that's all I want to do."
The defending champions, who have won the Grand Final three times in a row, go to Wrexham to play Welsh side Crusdaders on Friday, 29 January in the opening game of the 2010 season.
But Eastwood says he is particularly looking forward to stepping out in front of the Rhinos supporters at Headingley.
"I've had a look around the stadium and training ground now and it's a very good set up and clearly one of the best they have in England," said Eastwood.
"I do feel some pressure coming here to such a big club. But I just want to play rugby and enjoy it.
"There is some pressure and I've heard some of the fans get a bit green if you don't perform. But I'm sure that will go away after a few games.
"It seems like the game is faster over here and more free flowing, so it will be a bit different for me. So I just want to get out there and play my first game and experience it all.
"It's just great to finally be here and getting used to English life and settling in with my new team and it's exciting for me."
