Morgan is Super League's youngest and longest-serving coach |
Hull KR coach Justin Morgan has signed a new deal which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2013 season. The 34-year-old Australian, who made the announcement at the club's player-of-the-year awards night, joined from Toulouse four years ago. He told BBC Radio Humberside: "This club has the resources and desire to be successful and I don't think there's a better job in Super League. "I wouldn't have signed if I didn't think I was right for the club." Morgan, who is the youngest and longest-serving coach in Super League, had another year left on his existing contract but had been linked with a move to Wigan. | We've got firm plans for the next two or three years and Justin is central to those plans Hull KR chairman Neil Hudgell |
"This is a big club," he continued. "We're slowly building momentum and stature within the game and in this country. "I felt as though that this is the best club to work for." Morgan guided the Robins to promotion to Super League in 2006, his first full season in charge. Since then he has helped them consolidate their place in the top flight, finishing 11th and seventh in the last two seasons. This season, Rovers have secured a place in the play-offs for the first time and will go into Saturday's final match of the regular season at Wakefield in third place. Hull KR chairman Neil Hudgell added: "Justin came to this club four years ago and laid down the foundations of a very successful side. "We have a year-on-year plan and it seems to have worked pretty well. "We've got firm plans for the next two or three years and Justin is central to those plans."
