Briscoe fit for local Hull derby

Shaun Briscoe has recovered from a shoulder injury

Hull KR and England full-back Shaun Briscoe will play against his former club Hull FC in the Super League on Saturday at Craven Park.

The 26-year-old has recovered from the shoulder injury that saw him miss the game at Leeds last time out.

"Last week was more of a precaution," he told BBC Radio Humberside.

"Missing that game has meant that I will be right for the rest of the season. Another bang on it could have seen me struggling but it's ok now."

Briscoe will line up for the Robins against his old club looking for the victory that would consolidate their hopes of a top four finish in the Super League.

However, he says there are no favourite in the "All Hull derby" despite the fact that Hull FC are struggling in ninth place in the table.

"They're sat two points out of the play-offs so it's definitely not season over for them but as a team we're looking for the win that will help us finish in third spot so both team have lots to play for."

The game will played out in front of a full house of over 10,000 fans and Briscoe believes they will play their part in what is always an emotional game.

But, he says, he tries to block out those feelings once the game gets underway.

"I think during the warm-up and the first few minutes of the game you are aware of the fans and the noise, but I try to get into the zone early and concentrate on my job and what I'm doing."
