Chev Walker is finding his form again after returning from injury. |
Hull KR centre Chev Walker says there are no thoughts of another mid-season slump at Craven Park going into Friday's home game with Harlequins. After their first back-to-back defeats of the season, Rovers are desperate to avoid a run like the six-game losing streak they went on a year ago. "We don't want to talk about last year," said Walker. "The more you think about it the more pressure you put on. "We're trying to stay pretty positive and confident as we're still second". Rovers went on a run of five consecutive Super League defeats following their narrow 24-18 Challenge Cup quarter-final exit to St Helens a this time year ago. After their narrowest of exits from this year's competition, when they again failed to make the last four, they will be hoping to avoid a similar scenario. But after going out of the Cup 25-24 at home to Warrington on 30 May, Rovers followed that with last Friday night's 22-6 reverse at Huddersfield, a team who did make the semis. And, with still only a three-point gap behind leaders Saints, Walker admits second-placed Rovers are now fully focussed on making sure they do everything in their power to get back on track. The former Great Britain international added: "We need to get to the point where we're not relying on other results to keep us there".
