Huddersfield (18) 22 Tries: Moore, Robinson, Mossop, Whaturia Goals: Cudjoe 3
Hull KR (6) 6 Tries: Welham Goals: Dobson
Huddersfield put in a determined performance to claim a superb win over second-placed Hull KR. Front-rowers Scott Moore and Eorl Crabtree played key roles with Moore going over for the opening try. Luke Robinson crossed soon after before Kris Welham got through a gap in the Giants defence to give Rovers hope. But Lee Mossop crossed for the home side eight minutes before the break and Paul Whatuira took Moore's pass to seal the win 11 minutes from the end.
Hull KR coach Justin Morgan: "We got outmuscled the last time we played them so we tried to add a bit of size. "I don't think the Cup game had any bearing, it's a whole new ball game. We were way off today, very disappointing. It was a really good opportunity but we came up way short. We were very flat, there was not a huge amount of energy. "We had a lot of ball but we lacked a bit of punch and the enthusiasm that has been so evident in our performances this year." Huddersfield coach Nathan Brown on Scott Moore: "Scotty had a great start to the year before having a bit of a dip but he seems like he's got himself going again. He's only 20 and to be hooker for your country at that age is quite an achievement. "Our effort was excellent and the players are saying the talk in defence was the best it's been all year. They're not second by a fluke and I thought we handled them reasonably well. It's a good result for us. "It was not a pretty game with the weather but we controlled things pretty well."
