Long starred in Saints' 30-6 win over Hull on Friday night

St Helens scrum-half Sean Long says his decision to move to Hull FC for next season "just felt right".

The 32-year-old signed a two-year deal with Hull to end his 12 years at Knowsley Road, after Saints only offered him a one-year-contract.

"I spoke to [Hull coach] Richard Agar and the role he wanted me to play was very exciting," Long told the BBC's Super League Show.

"It's a massive club and city, and the move just felt right."

The former Great Britain player has scored more than 2,500 points in his time with St Helens, helping them to win every trophy in the game.

"I have a lot of great memories of my time at Saints and there will be a lot of emotion for me for the rest of this season playing for them.

"I want to try to help them win all three trophies this season and then focus on my new challenge at Hull.

"It was a big decision but quite an easy one to move to Hull in the end.

"To play in a fantastic stadium where the fans get behind you and with some quality players was a big draw.

"Hull are not far off - maybe they just need to find some more consistency. They only need a bit of tweaking to be a major force."
