Director of rugby Jon Sharp is relishing Hull FC's start in his first season back at the club he played for.
Sharp played for Hull for 10 years but has been away from the club for 11 years. He told BBC Radio Humberside he was glad to be back.
"The response has been fantastic. I've had lots of letters from the fans," said the former Huddersfield coach.
"Our start to the season is probably down to a fresh outlook and a fresh approach to how we do things."
Sharp, a star in the pack for the Black and Whites in the nineties, left his job as head coach at Huddersfield last year, having learned his trade as assistant coach at St Helens.
He has revealed that one of his roles at the KC Stadium is to "coach the coaches" and oversee the clubs playing strategy, across the board, from first-team level down to the junior academies.
And after a disappointing league campaign last season, FC have started Super League XIV in impressive fashion, winning their opening five games of the season.
That unbeaten record ended last Friday night when a late drop goal saw Castleford sneak a 19-18 victory at the KC Stadium, but Sharp's side still sit third, behind Leeds and St Helens only on points difference.
