Huddersfield Giants have terminated head coach Jon Sharp's contract with immediate effect. Sharp, who took charge at the Galpharm Stadium in 2003, is the third Super League boss to lose their job in the last two weeks. "Unfortunately our results and performances this year have proved a major disappointment for everyone, including Jon," chairman Ken Davy said. "The process of appointing a new coach will begin shortly." Sharp's assistants Paul Anderson and Keiron Purtill will take temporary charge of the Giants squad. Sharp became Super League's longest-serving coach following Paul Cullen's departure from Warrington a week ago. He guided the Giants to the 2006 Challenge Cup final, where they lost 42-16 to St Helens. But they are currently third from bottom of the table and lost 48-0 to Catalans Dragons in their last match.
