Horne's testimonial game was launched at a special function in the city |
Hull FC and Hull Kingston Rovers will meet next year in a testimonial game to mark Richard Horne's 10 years with the Black and Whites. The 27-year-old supported the Robins as a child but has played all his rugby in an FC jersey. "It's a great honour because I've got ties with both clubs," he told BBC Radio Humberside. "We'll be going out to win - it's a derby after all and being in Hull you never want to lose to the other side." The game will form part of the pre-season build-up to the 2010 season for both clubs but an exact date for the match, which will take place at the KC Stadium, has yet to be arranged. | 606: DEBATE |
"It all depends on when each teams' training camps are. Both the Coaches will get their heads together and come up with something," he said. Horne's former team-mate Shaun Briscoe, who now plays for Hull KR, paid tribute to him when the fixture was announced. "Richard is an outstanding player and I have to thank him for laying on loads of tries for me when I played with him," he said. "A game between the two Hull clubs is a testament to how much esteem he is held in and the game will be massive for Richard and his family."
