Huddersfield Giants have signed Australian international back row forward Luke O'Donnell.

The 29-year-old will leave North Queensland Cowboys at the end of the season and move to the Galpharm Stadium on a four-year deal.

O'Donnell told BBC Radio Leeds: "Everybody I've spoken to has said positive things about the club and I'm really looking forward to it.

"I still feel like I've got some good footie ahead of me," he added.

O'Donnell, who has been capped 10 times by his country and has four State of Origin appearances to his name, said: "I'm keen to get over there and prove myself in Super League."

He also revealed that one of his reasons for the move is his disciplinary record in the NRL. O'Donnell is the most suspended player in NRL history, racking up 10 bans totalling 29 weeks since 2000.

"I've definitely been a little bit frustrated with the way a few things have turned out, particularly after the State of Origin [when he received a three-week ban].

"But looking ahead, I was really keen to get back to enjoying my football, and speaking to Brownie [Giants coach Nathan Brown], he seemed to think I'd really enjoy the style of footie that they play over there.

"Huddersfield seemed like a good fit for me and I'm just looking forward to getting over there and putting my best foot forward next year."
