Cook extends contract with Giants

Cook took over managing the Giants reserves in 2008

Huddersfield Giants reserve-team coach Paul Cook has signed a new two-year deal with the Super League club.

The former Bramley Buffaloes and Huddersfield man guided his team to a third-placed finish in the reserve league with an unbeaten home record.

"There is a lot of good youth coming through the club and I'm looking forward to playing my part in that continuing," said Cook.

This new deal will keep Cook at the Galpharm until the end of 2011.

"This time last year I took the job to work with the reserves and to have been offered a new contract after a year was not only exciting but also very pleasing, and was one I accepted very quickly," Cook added.

"We had a successful year in 2009 and my aim is to continue helping young talent at this club progress to Super League level."

Head Coach Nathan Brown said: "Cooky did a great job this year with the young guy's and I'm glad he has been rewarded with a new deal.

"He had a successful year with his side finishing third and the fact that we called on plenty of the young players shows that Cooky has done a really good job.

"I'm certain that he can help play his part in taking the club forward, as we are all trying to do."
