Crewe ended a run of five successive losses with Calvin Zola scoring twice as the visitors defeated Bradford.
Zola's first was a spectacular effort from a narrow angle before drilling in a second from just outside the box.
Michael Boulding scored for Bradford with a header before Steven Schumacher drove home from 25 yards for Crewe.
James Hanson reduced the deficit with a 12-yard volley and the home side had a penalty appeal turned down when Ashley Westwood appeared to handle in the box.
Bradford City boss Stuart McCall told BBC Radio Leeds:
"I think we at least merited a point against a good Crewe side going forward.
"It was good to see that when we went 3-1 down we didn't give up and cave in, we fought on and got back into it with a great goal.
"I have to say i was pleased with the performance and on another day we could have scored four or five goals.
"We played some good stuff and worked very hard for the whole game."
Crewe Alexandra interim manager Dario Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke:
"The real bonus today was not only winning the game, but winning it with a bit of style as well.
"We will be better than that, we need to play out time better and be more organised on set pieces".
"While I'm here, they'll be playing football that I think is attractive to watch, I can't stand watching any of that other stuff but I enjoyed watching us today".
