Kirmond has just signed a new four-year deal with the Giants |
Huddersfield Giants' Danny Kirmond is facing a 12-week lay-off after X-rays confirmed he has sustained a depressed fracture of the cheekbone. The 23-year-old second row suffered the injury in Friday night's 22-6 Super League win over Hull KR. Coach Nathan Brown said: "We've been told we have lost Danny now for between six and 12 weeks. "It's a case of wait and see. Whatever the length of time, it's really disappointing for everyone." Meanwhile the West Yorkshire side are monitoring the fitness of hooker David Faiumu. The New Zealand international suffered a groin injury in the same game. "Faiumu got a knock during the game and it's a groin problem," said Brown. "We are not sure how bad it is at the moment, but we are hoping it is just a knock rather than an actual muscle strain."
