Shenton has scored nine tries for Castelford this season |
England centre Michael Shenton will leave Castleford Tigers at the end of the season. The 24-year-old, who has been linked with a move to St Helens, was a product of the Tigers academy. Coach Terry Matterson said: "We would have liked to have kept Michael and made him a big offer to stay. "However, he has made a decision to move on which we respect and we are very grateful for his contribution in seven seasons with the club." Shenton's departure creates an opportunity for 18-year-old Joe Arundel who has agreed a new two-year deal with Castleford. His contract with the club was due to run out at the end of the current Super League season. Matterson told the club's website: "We're really pleased that Joe has agreed to stay with us. "I'm very excited about what Joe can do for us in the future and we are hoping to see him available for selection for Sunday's game against Neath." Arundel said. "I always wanted to stay at Castleford so I'm pleased to get this sorted out. I'll look to have a big off-season here and come back better for 2011."
