Wainwright and Evans have made 90 club appearances between them |
Castleford Tigers centre James Evans and winger Michael Wainwright have been given new contracts. Evans, 30, has signed a two-year deal while 28-year-old Wainwright has agreed a one-year contract extension. Meanwhile, back-row forward Sione Faumuina has been released from his contract and returned to Australia. "I'm very pleased that we have been able to tie up another two members of our current squad," coach Terry Matterson told Castleford's website. "Jimmy has made himself a key player and it showed recently when he was out for a few weeks how we missed his presence. "Michael wasn't in the starting line-up at the beginning of the season but he has established himself and made the position his own. "And both are great trainers and good role models for the developing young players in our squad." Evans, who is in his sixth season in Super League, joined the Tigers from Bradford Bulls at the start of the 2009 campaign and scored nine tries in 17 appearances. Wainwright joined the Tigers in 2007 from Batley and is in his third season with the club.
