Matterson has just signed a new two-year deal at the Tigers
Castleford coach Terry Matterson says the Tigers will not get carried away after moving into the play-off places.
The Tigers jumped up from ninth to seventh after their 18-12 win at Salford on Friday night, their third Super League victory in succession.
"We seem to have been in ninth for a month or so, so we are really pleased to finally see movement," Matterson told BBC Radio Leeds.
"But it's where you are after 27 rounds not 21 that matters."
Castleford now head to local rivals Wakefield Trinity Wildcats on Sunday (kick-off 1530 BST). Trinity are sixth, ahead of the Tigers on points difference only.
"With both us and Wakefield winning at the weekend it sets it up nicely for a very good derby game," said Matterson.
"I'm very excited about it and it should be a cracker. I'm sure it will be close to a sell-out."
BBC Radio Leeds will have full match commentary of Wakefield v Castleford on Sunday from 1500 BST.
