Michael Shenton hopes a life-long dream will drive him to help Castleford Tigers beat Huddersfield Giants in the Challenge Cup quarter-final.
The two West Yorkshire clubs go head-to-head at the Galpharm Stadium on Sunday (kick-off 1530 BST).
"I've grown up watching the finals on the BBC and it is a very special cup," centre Shenton told BBC Radio Leeds.
"To reach the final and play at Wembley is something I've dreamt about since a little boy."
The Tigers have won the Challenge Cup four times in the past, lifting the trophy in 1935, 1969, 1970 and 1986.
England elite squad member Shenton added: "It is great to play in the quarter-finals, especially for the club and the fans as we have not been here for so long.
"You look at the cup celebration pictures on the club walls and the notes in the programme all remind you of what this trophy means to the club and the town and what a history we have in the competition.
"We know where we need to improve ahead of Sunday and what we need to do on the day and hopefully we can win through."
BBC Radio Leeds has exclusive full match commentary on 92.4 FM, 774 AM, DAB & online from 1500 BST on Sunday.
