Lancashire made it three wins out of three in this year's Twenty20 Cup as they eased to a five-wicket victory over old foes Yorkshire at Headingley.

Jacques Rudolph (38) was the main man as the home side made 111-8, having slumped from a far more promising 68-2.

The visitors were cruising in reply, until the introduction of spinners David Wainwright and Adil Rashid, who took three wickets between them.

But Steven Croft (40no) saw his side home on 112-5 with five balls to spare.

A second Twenty20 Roses defeat in four nights was a bitter disappointment for the home fans who basked in glorious sunshine in a near capacity crowd of 11,300.

Lancashire paceman Sajid Mahmood, was named man of the match, for his 2-17 off four overs.

But the only really bright moment for the hosts came when leg-spinner Adil Rashid, called up by England for the Twenty20 World Cup as a replacement for Andrew Flintoff, claimed a wicket with only his second delivery in this season's competition.

He produced a well-flighted delivery which bowled opener Tom Smith as he attempted to drive.

By then, Smith and opening partner Paul Horton had dashed up 41 together by the fifth over and Lancashire were already well on their way to victory. And, although slow left-armer Wainwright then removed Horton and Francois du Plessis, lbw first ball, Croft made sure there were to be no mistakes in getting home.
