Feather was plagued by injuries while at Bradford |
Castleford Tigers have signed prop forward Chris Feather from Bradford Bulls on a one-year deal. The 26-year-old has been released from his contract at the Grattan Stadium by mutual consent. Tigers coach Terry Matterson said: "I am really pleased to have Chris on board, he is the sort of player we have been looking for. "He is big and strong and very mobile and will give our pack some real strength and stature." Matterson added: "I met Chris briefly four years ago when I was with Canberra. | I am pleased that Terry has given me this chance, speaking to him he seems really switched on |
"He was on holiday at the time but called in to see Dave Furner, who was a friend of his, and I know that Dave would have liked to have had him on board at the Raiders. "He has had a tough couple of years, and knows that, but he is raring to go and at 26 I feel that his best rugby is ahead of him." Commenting on the move, Feather said: "I am looking forward to linking up with the Tigers. "I have had a couple of steady years with Bradford but been a bit unlucky with injuries, but I'm fully fit now, ready to get stuck into a good pre-season, and looking forward to playing some regular rugby. "I am pleased that Terry has given me this chance. Speaking to him he seems really switched on and has signed well for the coming season and I'm sure that the Tigers can go really well." Bradford Bulls coach Steve McNamara told the club's official website: "I think this is the best thing for both parties. | 606: DEBATE |
"Chris has been great around the place and gives everything in terms of training and when he's had opportunities to play but it's just not quite worked out, the main reason being injuries. "It's the right time for a fresh start, there's no hard feelings and we wish him all the best."
