Bradford Bulls coach McNamara undecided on captaincy
McNamara guided the Bulls to 9th place in Super League XIV
Bradford Bulls coach Steve McNamara is still to decide who his captain will be for Super League XV.
New signing Matt Orford is the favourite for the job but faces competition from the likes of Andy Lynch and Jamie Langley.
McNamara told BBC Radio Leeds: "I'm more interested in winning games and in the group being a strong one with a lot of leaders within it.
"The captaincy issue will sit on the back-burner for the moment."
The role of captain became vacant when Paul Deacon left the Grattan Stadium to join his home-town club Wigan at the end of last season.
McNamara added: "I know a whole lot about my existing players, I know a whole lot about some of the new signings and I only know a little bit about Matt Orford as this is only his second week.
"The captaincy is an important job but its not exactly like the same sort of job as you have in cricket where they help pick the team and have a whole bigger influence.
"Rugby league captains have different responsibilities. It's an important job and one that should be taken with honour but we'll take our time to to make the right decision."
