Former Bradford stand-off Iestyn Harris has backed the Bulls to be a force in Super League XIV.

After a poor start, the Bulls have now won successive games although they are still nine points off top spot.

Harris told the Super League Show: "Two weeks ago they got destroyed by Warrington and everybody was really concerned for Bradford.

"They went to St Helens with a great victory there and backed it up with a good victory against Wakefield."

"The pleasing thing for [Bulls coach] Steve McNamara will be the points they're scoring now - they were struggling to score tries and they're doing it regularly now which is really important."

Their poor start to the season prompted speculation that Bradford were lining up a move for their former coach Brian Noble - denied at the time by Bulls chairman Peter Hood.

"Speculation that Brian is to return to Bradford as head coach is precisely that - rumour and speculation - which I can categorically deny," he said.

Now, back-to-back wins over St Helens and Wakefield have Bradford in a much healthier position in the table.

Harris doubts that McNamara's position was ever in question and believes the Bulls coach will benefit from the backing of his chairman.

"That's really important for Steve," said Harris, "but I don't think it was ever really a concern - I think he's doing good things at Bradford.

"They had a bad start but I'm sure they'll come good now towards the back end of the year."
