Leeds believe Diskin is out of contract at the end of the season |
Bradford Bulls have revealed they tried to sign Great Britain international Matt Diskin from arch rivals Leeds. The 23-year-old hooker is out of action as he recovers from surgery on his knee but the Bulls were keen to snap him up as soon as he was fully fit.
"I can confirm we approached Leeds to ask if they would be prepared to release Diskin," Bulls spokesman Stuart Duffy told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
However, Rhinos have insisted Diskin is not for sale at any price.
Leeds chief executive Gary Hetherington said: "Of course he is not available.
"Matt is recovering from a very serious knee injury and to ask about somebody's availability when he has got another four months rehab before he can consider playing again is strange to say the least."
Diskin damaged his knee ligaments on his Great Britain debut last November.
The intense rivalry between the two clubs was highlighted in similar circumstances last December.
Bradford were angered after Leeds reportedly showed interest in signing Jamie Peacock and Jamie Langley.
But last week the Rugby Football League exonerated Leeds from any wrong-doing.
