Huddersfield took a huge step towards avoiding relegation as Robbie Paul's try secured a crucial win over Salford.
The Giants led 14-8 at half-time via tries from Brad Drew and Chris Nero and three Michael De Vere goals, Andy Coley and Jon Wilshere crossing for Reds.
Paul Reilly grabbed Huddersfield's third but tries from Karl Fitzpatrick and David Hodgson brought Salford level at 18-18 before Paul intervened.
Victory lifted the Giants four points clear of Wakefield with two games left.
Huddersfield coach Jon Sharp:
"I'm very proud and frustrated. I'm proud of the way the team reacted after the emotional high of Twickenham. They fronted up and gave it everything.
"But I am also scratching my head at a host of (refereeing) decisions and I will need to speak to the League. I have a bitter taste in my mouth.
"Overall, I thought we were magnificent. We haven't got a team of superstars and internationals but we have a group of committed people who want to work hard for each other."
Salford coach Karl Harrison:
"I thought we played poorly but we still created enough chances to win three games.
"We lacked patience and we lacked composure. It is a matter of taking your chances at this level. Huddersfield took their theirs but we didn't take ours."
