Hull claimed their 13th successive Super League win with victory over a stubborn Warrington at the KC Stadium.
The home side went 18-0 ahead after 24 minutes with tries from Danny Washbrook, Gareth Raynor and Motu Tony.
Warrington pulled the score back to 18-12 before Richard Horne equalled Hull's 91-year record of scoring in 11 straight games just before the break.
Hull lost their way in the second half as the Wolves fought back but Tommy Lee and Shaun Briscoe made sure of the win.
Although Hull eventually sealed victory, coach Peter Sharp will be concerned at his side's error-strewn display after half-time.
The game could have been even closer, too, if Raynor had not produced a wonderful piece of defence to deny Henry Fa'afili in the in-goal area during the second half.
Warrington put Hull under real pressure in the second half and their never-say-die attitude was highlighted with Richie Barnett's try with four minutes to go.
But they have now lost six of their last seven games, although they still occupy a play-off place.
Hull coach Peter Sharp "We were still a bit patchy but I thought that we showed certain signs of improvement offensively.
"For the first 20 minutes it was more like us from five or six weeks ago. Defensively we were strong again.
"Out of their four tries two came from kick plays and one was an intercept, so it was very good again.
"We're just expending a lot of energy in defence so we've not got much when we get the football but we'll rectify that hopefully.
"We're tending to invite teams onto us at times, with poor discipline. We will work on it."
Warrington boss Paul Cullen: "I thought defensively we were absolutely outstanding. In 80 minutes they broke our line once, which was in the 73rd minute.
"Offensively I thought we were the better team. But when it's not going your way it's not going your way.
"We firmly believe that this is the start of our run and push for the big run at the end of the year."
