Warrington (22) 30 Tries: Fa'afili 2, Grix 2, Reardon, Kohe-Love Goals: Briers 3
Huddersfied (4) 26 Tries: Brown 2, Raleigh 2, Thorman Goals: De Vere 3 Warrington ended a run of five straight defeats with a nervy victory that lifts them to fifth in Super League. A Kevin Brown try put Huddersfield in front but four tries in 10 minutes put the Wolves 22-4 up by half-time. Henry Fa'afili, Simon Grix, with two, and Stuart Reardon all crossed, with Fa'afili and Toa Kohe-Love adding further tries after the interval. But the Giants rallied with scores from Brown, Chris Thorman and two from Andy Raleigh to spark a frantic finale. Victory took the Wolves above Salford on points difference in the play-off spots, while a fourth straight defeat leaves Huddersfield two points off the bottom. Just three points now separate Harlequins, in seventh place, and Wigan and Catalans Dragons - who cannot be relegated - at the bottom. Warrington hooker Jon Clarke is to undergo a shoulder reconstruction operation that will keep him out of action for at least three months. Warrington coach Paul Cullen: "Both teams ran their legs to water and there was not much between the sides. "But we have had a real dig. It doesn't put the last five games right, but we have blooded some youngsters and some senior players are carrying the weight for a few." Warrington centre Martin Gleeson: "We have had a tough month and we needed this, especially in front of our home crowd. "We have dug in and it has paid off. It gives us a bit of breathing space but we have got to kick on from this." Huddersfield coach Jon Sharp: "I spoke to the boys at half-time and said we could still win it. I saw enough things in the first half to suggest that, certainly our line breaks around the rucks. "We got out of the blocks with an early score and dominated the second half, but you can't afford to concede 30 points and win games, it certainly puts a lot of pressure on you."
