Lee Briers inspired Warrington to a stunning second-half display as they notched their first win of the season. Wolves were forced to recover from 14-0 down after Danny Brough and Kirk Yeaman tries, but Jon Clarke got them going. Hull maintained a half-time lead with further scores from Grath Raynor and Yeaman again, but the hosts hit back. Henry Fa'afili (3), Chris Bridge, Mike Wainwright and Richie Bartnett all crossed, but Briers was the hero, scoring 18 points as Wolves ran riot.

"When you are on the ropes and the blows are coming thick and fast you've got to look to your senior players - and they answered the call. "I think we handled the adversity very well. It was a magnificent performance under pressure. "Hull must have thought it was Christmas when we kept gifting them possession. It was a real test of character, and the guys came through with flying colours." Hull coach John Kear:
"The weight of possession and boot of Lee Briers ruined us. "We're very disappointed as a group of players. We got in a commanding position on the scoreboard and let it slip away. "They absolutely killed us with their welter of possession that enabled them to take control of the game. In the second half we didn't start a set in the Warrington half."
