Castleford sign Gibson
Out of contract Wales full-back Damian Gibson has joined Castleford on a two-year deal
Damian Gibson joins Castleford on a two-year deal
Castleford have signed Salford's versatile back Damian Gibson, who played in the Wales team beaten by New Zealand on Sunday.

The 27-year-old former Leeds and Halifax winger or full-back became a free agent when Salford were relegated from the Super League and joins the Tigers on a two-year contract.

"Cas are a club I've wanted to play for for some time," Gibson said. "I know a lot of the boys and I see them as a club moving in the right direction and want to be part of it."

Gibson is Castleford's fourth close-season recruit, joining Paul Jackson, Jamie Thackray and his Reds team-mate Francis Maloney at the Jungle.

He is likely to be their first-choice full-back next season, allowing Darren Rogers to revert to his normal wing position.

The Tigers are expected to announce one more signing before the start of their pre-season training, with the club admitting on Monday that they have spoken with Cronulla Sharks centre Paul Mellor.
