Hull hunt down Wolves
Matt Crowther in action for Hull
Crowther inspired the Hull revival after half-time
Warrington 14-42 Hull

Matt Crowther scored 22 points to inspire Hull to a brilliant comeback win over Warrington.

The winger finished with two tries and seven goals from as many attempts, as the visitors racked up 36 points without reply in the second half.

It was a significant victory without Jason Smith

Warrington led 14-6 at the interval with Hull struggling to come to terms with the loss of skipper Jason Smith after only three minutes with severe concussion.

Hull went ahead on 13 minutes with a disputed try from Gareth Raynor, who appeared to drop the ball over the line.

But referee Bob Connolly opted not to use the video replay.

Warrington were soon on level terms, when Jon Clarke sent Ben Westwood over for his fifth try in six games since his move from Wakefield.

Lee Briers added the conversion and then a penalty to make it 8-6 for the Wolves.

I was very disappointed after we put in so much effort and commitment in the first half

Warrington coach

The home side went further ahead just before half-time when Westwood took Nathan Woods' pass to go over and Briers added the goal.

A transformed Hull took charge in the second half with veteran Graham Mackay cutting the gap to 14-12 in the 54th minute.

And Hull never looked back as Toa Kohe-Love, Crowther, Garreth Carvell and Raynor did the damage to complete the comeback victory.
