Millward stays with Saints
Saint Helens coach Ian Millward has brought two trophies to Knowsley Road.
Ian Millward says he is following his instincts
Ian Millward has turned down an offer from Sydney club Wests Tigers in order to see out his contract at St Helens.

The Australlian coach took Saints to the Super League title in his first season in 2000 and helped them lift the Challenge Cup a year later.

It feels like the right thing to do to stay here

The 41-year-old still has 12 months remaining on his current deal at Knowsley Road.

Millward was interviewed via satellite link-up for the imminent vacancy at Wests Tigers last week.

But he told the Sydney Morning Herald: "It's just that at this point in tme I'm not ready to bring my family back.

"I still have a desire to coach in Australia but I suppose the bottom line is that you've got to trust your instincts.

"It feels like the right thing to do to stay here."

The news will be of massive relief to St Helens, who are thought to be ready to offer Millward a four-year extension to his contract.
