Saints defeated Brisbane at the Reebok Stadium in 2001 |
Bolton's Reebok Stadium will host the World Club Challenge between Super League champions St Helens and leading Australia side Brisbane on 23 February. The venue has beaten Everton's Goodison Park and Wigan's JJB Stadium to host the flagship match for a third time.
St Helens defeated Brisbane 20-18 at the Reebok in 2001 while they lost 38-0 to Sydney at the same venue in 2003.
"The build-up and anticipation for the match can now begin in earnest," said Saints chief executive Sean McGuire.
"Everybody at the club is tremendously excited by the prospect of competing in the 2007 World Club Challenge.
"All Saints fans will have great memories of that fantastic night in 2001 when we lifted the trophy against Brisbane."
Paul Wellens, Sean Long, Keiron Cunningham and captain Paul Sculthorpe are the only St Helens survivors from that win over the Broncos.
Australian clubs have won just two of the annual clashes of the champions since it was re-introduced in 2000.
