Lyon could line up against former club St Helens |
Jamie Lyon's new club Manly Sea Eagles have offered to take the place of Brisbane Broncos and play St Helens in February's World Club Challenge. The pre-season fixture has been thrown into doubt after the Broncos said they wanted to rest several players.
The Rugby Football League and Brisbane are set to discuss the tie this week.
"What better way to start the new season than having Jamie Lyon playing for his new club against his old club," said Manly chief executive Grant Mayer.
Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen told the Sydney Daily Telegraph: "We are still very keen to play it at a later date."
Bradford beat Australian outfit Wests Tigers 30-10 in the last World Club Challenge between the Super League champions and National Rugby League winners in February.
Australian Lyon, the 2005 Super League Man of Steel, left St Helens after their Grand final victory over Hull to join Manly on a four-year contract.
