Fein played one State of Origin match for Queensland in 2001 |
Former Queensland hooker Nathan Fein has been named in New Zealand's initial training squad for this year's Tri-Nations series. The Queensland-born player qualifies to play for Brian McClennan's side through his grandmother.
"He has been the number one starting hooker for the Warriors this season," said McClennan.
"His form has been very good this year and he has pledged his allegiance to the Kiwis."
The 27-year-old is one of 11 Warriors players that have been named in the 19-man squad.
More players will be added after the end of the domestic Australian National Rugby League play-offs.
North Queensland Cowboys hooker David Faiumu, who needs surgery for a groin injury, is the only player from last year's triumphant Tri-Nations squad not considered for selection.
