Waite helped out Catalans Dragons' in their first Super League season |
Former Great Britain head coach David Waite is to quit his consultancy role at the Rugby Football League at the end of the month to return to Australia. Waite was GB coach from 2001 to 2003 and more recently worked with Catalans Dragons and the England Academy.
"I have enjoyed my time in British and French rugby immensely," he said.
RFL executive chairman Richard Lewis said he had "contributed to the game's current vibrancy" and was "a champion of British playing and coaching".
Waite, a former Australian Test winger, joined the RFL as technical director in 2000 after a successful coaching career back home with Newcastle Knights and St George-Illawarra.
He has not yet announced any plans to resume coaching when he returns home.
