Meninga to coach Maroons squad
Former Australian rugby league captain Mal Meninga
League great Mal Meninga has been appointed coach of Queensland's 2006 State of Origin squad, replacing Newcastle Knights coach Michael Hagan.

Meninga enjoyed an illustrious career in a Queensland shirt and remains the Maroons' top scorer in Origin games.

He will now be hoping to emulate that success in his coaching role as Queensland seek to reverse recent series defeats by New South Wales.

NSW retained their Origin crown in July with a record-breaking win in Brisbane.
