Australia's Brett Kimmorley has pulled out of the forthcoming Tri-Nations series for personal reasons. "Anyone that knows me knows I'm passionate about the Australia jumper," said the 29-year-old scrum-half.
"But I come from a very close family and I'd have to turn my back on them for occasions that I just can't miss."
Kimmorley was the player of the 2003 Ashes Series and played in all three matches against Britain in last year's Tri-Nations Series.
"Brett has been an integral part of our success in the UK over the past few years," added Australia Rugby League chief executive Geoff Carr.
"Although it will be disappointing that he won't be there this year, we clearly appreciate his commitment to his family and believe it is the right decision for him."
The two-month long Tri-Nations begins on 15 October with Australia and New Zealand battling it out in Sydney, with Great Britain playing their first match against New Zealand on 29 October.
