Hull forward King faces wrist surgery at the end of the season |
Hull forward Paul King looks set to miss this season's Tri-Nations Series after withdrawing from Great Britain's two-day training camp in Bath. The 26-year-old will undergo a wrist operation at the end of the season and decided to pull out of the Lions squad that assembled on Sunday.
King was one of seven absentees from the 40-man train-on squad named by coach Brian Noble earlier this season.
Noble will trim his squad to 25 after this season's Super League Grand Final.
The squad will then fly to Spain for a warm-weather training camp before their first Tri-Nations fixture against New Zealand in London on 29 October.
Kris Radlinski, Terry Newton, Kevin Brown, Keiron Cunningham, Stuart Fielden and Adrian Morley were also missing from the train-on squad.
"We have got something we haven't had before and that is two days together," said Noble.
"It has been good to take them out of their own environment and I have been very impressed with everyone here."
