Noble upbeat despite late defeat
GB captain Andy Farrell reflects on his side's defeat to Australia
Great Britain coach Brian Noble found cause for optimism despite his side's shattering 12-8 loss to Australia.

"It's probably not as heart-breaking as you would imagine," he said.

"It is disappointing to get done in the last minute but there were some really good things from us and at the end of the day we can improve.

"I'm very proud of the performance and the boys should be proud of their efforts. They now need to turn that into a bit of composure at times."

We have got a realistic chance of winning this tournament
GB skipper Andy Farrell
The Lions will now attempt to bounce back in their second match against New Zealand at Huddersfield next week.

"In reality it wasn't a game we had to win," Noble noted. "We're looking at this as a five-game tournament and not just a one-game thing."

Skipper Andy Farrell also believes the team can look forward to the rest of the competition in good heart.

"They (Australia) will realise they have been in a tough contest and so we can take a lot of positives from it," he said.

"We have got something to work on for next week. It is disappointing but everyone realises we have got a realistic chance of winning this tournament."
