York City Knights players ready to return

York City Knights

York City Knights players James Haynes and Brett Waller are on the verge of returning to the squad after injury.

Haynes has been out with a neck injury since the opening game of the season, while Waller has had surgery on a knee problem picked up last season.

Coach Dave Woods told BBC Radio York: "Haynes is probably two to three weeks away but he's been given the all-clear to start training fully next week.

"Brett Waller is back in full training. He had a full session on Tuesday."

Woods continued: "I just saw him before he went in the gym. He said he was very sore the next day, not with his knee but just muscle soreness and things like that because he said to me on the night there's no substitute for this.

"Even with the miles he's done inside it's completely different.

"But he's looking really good and he's probably two weeks away before he'll get a start in the reserve grade and then we'll have a look at him."

Woods said of Haynes: "He'll probably have two weeks of training and then we'll play him in a reserve grade game to see how he gets on. "
