Quentin Laulu-Togagae available for Eagles opener

Sheffield Eagles include their new star signing Quentin Laulu-Togagae for their Championship opener against Widnes Vikings on Sunday.

The Samoa international, who can play at either half-back or full-back, joined Sheffield from Brisbane club Souths Logan Magpies.

Eagles head coach Mark Aston told BBC Radio Sheffield: "Quentin and his family have arrived safely.

"He's a quality individual and it's time for the fans to see what I see."

Aston has also signed Vinny Finigan and Jason Crookes on duel contracts this week from Bradford Bulls.

Finigan is ruled out of Sunday's game at Bramall Lane after picking up an injury from parent club Bradford and Crookes will undergo a fitness test on Friday night.

Aston is upbeat for their opening league game after picking up an emphatic 82-0 win over Leeds Met University in the Challenge Cup.

"It's amazing what a good win and nil-ing the opposition does for the lads, they've got a smile on their face, they're buzzing."

But Aston admits Widnes will be a much tougher prospect.

"We're playing against one of the best teams in the competition, they beat Featherstone and had a comfortable win in the Challenge cup aswell," he said.

The Eagles will also make history on Sunday at Bramall Lane by becoming the first professional sports club to display an anti homophobia message on their shirts.

The Yorkshire side will run out onto the Bramall Lane pitch with the slogan "Homophobia: Tackle It!", a move which has already had a message of support from Sir Elton John.

"It's an all inclusive game, when Gareth Thomas came out we embraced that as the rugby league family would do."
