Betts joined the Vikings as head coach in November 2010 |
Widnes coach Denis Betts says his side need to maintain their consistency ahead of Saturday's Northern Rail Cup tie with Featherstone. The Vikings have started the competition well with victories over London Skolars, Toulouse and Rochdale. "For me it's about how we apply ourselves week-in-week-out," Betts told BBC Radio Merseyside. "I'm not looking at us doing anything different and all we need do is handle everything that's in front of us." Widnes were beaten 30-22 in the last meeting with Featherstone in August, as the Yorkshire outfit reached the Championship Grand Final last season. The Vikings have been in fine form this season scoring 156 points in their last three games, and despite the difficulty of the match ahead, Betts wants more of the same. "We know that Featherstone were the best side in the league last year and we lost to them twice," he said. "If you look at the points that we've scored in the last few games you can see we're actually doing the things we want them to do."
