Halifax are through to the Championship Grand Final for a second straight year after beating Sheffield Eagles 42-16 at The Shay to end their play-off dream. The Eagles threatened to repeat away wins at Leigh and Barrow when winger Danny Mills scored the game's first try after a scoreless first quarter. But Matt Calland's men killed Sheffield off with four tries in 11 minutes. Although the Eagles pulled one back, Fax ran in three more to set up next weekend's final against Featherstone. Last year's finalists effectively booked their place at the Halliwell Jones on Sunday week (26 September, 1730 BST) when they took so little time to respond to Mills' opener, bouncing back with a try for Sean Penkywicz just seven minutes after he had come on. Scrum-half Ben Black, followed rapidly by forwards Sam Barlow, perhaps inevitably against his former club, and Makali Aizue then all crossed to establish a 24-6 half-time lead. Barlow's try caused particular consternation for Sheffield, who remain insistent that he had signed an agreement not to play against them in 2010 following his release in July. Centre Lee Paterson, who was to kick all seven conversions, added an early second-half try of his own before Alex Rowe pulled a try back for Sheffield. But Halifax continued to dominate, running in further tries through winger Rob Worrincy - with a length-of-the-field effort - and full-back Shad Royston, his 30th of the season, to win with ease. Royston now need one more touchdown at the Halliwell Jones to overtake Batley's Johnny Campbell as the top try-scorer outside Super League in 2010. Championship One York City Knights will take on Oldham in the Championship One promotion play-off final at Warrington after gaining a 38-18 win over Blackpool in the final eliminator. The Knights had the game sewn up by half-time when they led 20-6 thanks to tries from Dan Wilson, Alex Benson, Lee Waterman and Danny Ratcliffe. Ratcliffe added a second after the break and former Huddersfield and Harlequins stand-off Chris Thorman also touched down, while Waterman took his goal tally to seven. Blackpool scored tries through Paul Anderson, Mark McCully and Carl Fober, all converted by Tom Hemingway.
